African Health Sciences Congress
2006-12-03 to 2006-12-07
The 27th AHSC will be co-hosted by the University of Limpopo (Medunsa
Campus) and the Medical Research Council South Africa.
The congress will be held in Durban, at the The HI Elangeni hotel and is organised under the auspices of the AFHS (African Forum for Health Sciences), a non-governmental organisation registered in Nairobi (Kenya).
Objectives of the congress
Promote research relevant to the diseases found in and particular to Africa.
Identify and evaluate old and existing technologies for health care in Africa.
Describe technologies used elsewhere that have potential for transfer in Africa.
Articulate experimental technologies with potential for developing countries.
Exploring IKS and its interface with other knowledge systems in the field of health, food and environment.
Expose cost-effective ways of attracting and empowering young researchers.
Strengthening the international lobbying of governments on certain African health issues.
