Frank join HISP as a Monitoring Evaluation Advisor. He was seconded to a PEPFAR funded project with PATH on Improvement of PMTCT in the Eastern Cape. The role of the advisor was to support the project and the DoH. The project support included planning, report writing, data collection, collation and analyzing. Towards the DoH, it was HIS support including DHIS and planning. |

Imeraan has more than sixteen years of experience working in the Western Cape Health Department. He worked for ten years at facility level (Somerset Hospital) and six and a half years in the Information Management Unit at Provincial level. He has experience and knowledge in both Hospital and Primary Health Care Information and a bit of GIS. Imeraan holds a Human Resource Management qualification and still also remain passionate about that.

Deputy Director: Research Programme
Jaine has a Masters in Development Studies with her thesis on the failure of the detection of asbestos-related disease, and consequent social exclusion that has resulted, in Limpopo Province. She has had public health research experience having worked at HEARD, and more recently as the Project Manager of the Industrial Health Unit at the Nelson R. Mandela School of Medicine, University of Natal. She has also lectured in the sociology of health. Jaine is particularly interested in occupational and environmental health, and has been actively involved in advocacy work around the asbestos-related disease litigation that has been in the news. Prior to her involvement in health, she was based in Johannesburg where she worked for the Los Angeles Times for 8 years. She has also worked in documentary film for a variety of international public broadcasters. |

Project Manager: Treatment Monitor
Marion has worked both locally and internationally in the area of HIV/AIDS and women's health and HIV/AIDS for the past 15 years. She has participated and been responsible for a number of health policy initiatives including the 1994 Women's Health Policy conference which resulted in thirteen different policies. This was a participatory process and resulted in the formation of a number of networks and processes of which she has been a facultative partner. Most of this work has also been targeted at assisting and developing the health system in the areas of integration, health information systems and human resources. She has a background as a health worker, in medical anthropology and in public development management. Ricardo an Honours degree in Industrial Psychology, is a registered Psychometrist with the HPCSA and is an accredited Chartered HR Practitioner with the South African Board for Personnel Practice.

Ross joined HST in March 1998 as an ISDS facilitator in the Mt Currie (sub)district of KwaZulu Natal where he gained valuable experience in district health system development, with a special interest in the role of communication in health delivery processes. After three years he joined the Research Section and participated in District Development monitoring projects and a Decentralisation collaborative initiative, together with financing and monitoring work in the field of Environmental Health. Ross is currently the Free State provincial facilitator in the Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) project. Ross has a Diploma in Forestry, a BSc (Economics and Geography) and a post graduate Diploma in Adult Education. |

Stiaan is the facilitator of the Atlantic Philanthropy project and is based in the Western Cape. He was part of Emergency Medical Service in the Northern Cape for ten years before joining the HISP team in 2002. Since then he gained valuable experience in district health information systems development working with organizations like UWC School of Public Health, Equity, Health Partners International and others. He has a National Diploma in General Management and a post graduate Diploma in Managing Health and Welfare. His strengths are database development (DHIS), Geographical Information Systems, material development and Health Management Information Systems with a special interest in Emergency Medical Services. He also worked part time in Nigeria, developing and implementing a Health Management Information System.

Thokozani holds a Masters Degree in Sociology (UKZN). Prior to joining HST he worked as a part-time Researcher for the University Interdisciplinary Accident Research Centre (Uniarc) at UKZN. He is currently working on the Knowledge Management Project commissioned by the National Department of Health, whos main objective is to review health research studies conducted in South Africa since 1994. He is also collecting research studies to be uploaded into the National Department of Health Research Database as part of the strategic initiative to identify health research priority areas for further research, as well as assisting with the establishment of Provincial Health Research Committees (PHRCs).
