A Rural Health Conference

HEALTH IN THE RURAL NODES
Venue: Ocean Conference Centre – Durban - KwaZulu-Natal
Date: 21 –23 September 2004

THEME: TOWARDS BETTER RURAL HEALTH CARE

The Department of Health, in partnership with the Health Systems Trust hosted the rural health conference, which will contribute towards improving service delivery in rural nodes.

The objectives of the conference are the following:

  • To showcase the achievements in strengthening service delivery in the 13 rural nodes;
  • To share lessons and best practices;
  • To share the experiences of the progress made in the rural nodes
  • To identify major areas of concern and develop strategies to correct those and mechanisms to strengthen the delivery of PHC; and
  • To launch the Rural Health Strategy.

  • The National Department of Health will only provide funding for the delegates for the following:
    • Accommodation,
    • Meals and full conference package for 16 delegates and NOT more, i.e. 10 delegates from the node, and 6 delegates from the Provincial Office.
  • From the Provincial Office, delegates should include the HOD, Senior Manager for Districts and Development, Senior Manager for PHC programmes, ISRDP Nodal Technical Champion, HR Manager, Quality Assurance Manager
