Senior Researcher: Children's Rights
UCT, Children's Institute 2003-01-17
The Children's Institute (CI) contributes to policies and laws which promote equity and fulfil the rights of all children in South Africa. Our work is aimed at the realisation of children's socio-economic rights with a particular emphasis on children made vulnerable by inequity, poverty and HIV/AIDS. We have a multi-disciplinary team conducting research, policy drafting, teaching, training and advocacy. We are looking for four new staff members to join the team.
With South Africa currently at a crossroads with regards to the interpretation and realisation of children's socio-economic rights, it is important to stimulate and enrich the legal and public debate around the constitutional interpretation of these rights. The CI has initiated a project aimed at engaging child rights experts, decision makers and service providers in debates, facilitating the production of publications that elaborate on and provide expert opinions on the interpretation of children's socio-economic rights, and producing training packages for various audiences.
All positions are offered on a one year contract basis. The final annual packages are dependent on the successful candidates' qualifications and experience.
Please send a letter of application, clearly stating the post that you are applying for, and your CV (with three contactable referees) to: Lizette Philips, Children's Institute, 46 Sawkins Road, Rondebosch, 7700 by 27 January 2003; tel: (021) 689 5404; fax: (021) 689 8330; email: lizettep@rmh.uct.ac.zaFor more information about the CI, please look at our website: http://www.uct.ac.za/depts/ci
