South Africa has a new Education Minister in Naledi Pandor but the Health Ministry stays under the controversial Manto Tshabalala-Msimang.

New National Party leader Marthinus van Schalkwyk is the new Environment and Tourism Minister. No Cabinet position goes to the Inkatha leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi, despite speculation that President Thabo Mbeki would offer him one.

The key Finance portfolio stays under Trevor Manuel but Alec Erwin moves to Public Enterprises from Trade and Industry. The new Trade and Industry Minister is Mandisi Mpahlwa, formerly deputy finance minister. Jeff Radebe moves to Transport from Public Enterprises.

Lindiwe Sisulu is the new Housing Minister. She moves from the Intelligence portfolio which now goes to Ronnie Kasrils.
