overtime) / Senior specialist (2 years qualified as a specialist family
physician R 219 768 R 255 147 excl overtime)/ Principal specialist (5
years qualified as a specialist family physician R 401 406 all inclusive
package overtime excl)
(Appointment will be considered at various levels pending years of
qualification and experience of applicant)
Centre:
Central Region / Mafikeng General, Bophelong Hospital Complex 1 (Based
in Regional Hospital Complex, but serving the entire district including the
District Hospitals.) The appointment is a Joint appointment with University of
the Witwatersrand.
Requirements:
- Basic Medical Degree (MBChB or equivalent)
- Postgraduate qualification in Family Medicine (MFamMed or equivalent)
- Registration with Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Specialist
Family Physician
Recommendations:
- Experience in project management
- Teaching experience
Duties:
- Support the provision of PHC services in the District and patient care in
the regional hospital complex, District Hospitals and satellite clinics
- Establish and ensure the following training activities in Family Medicine
through the development of a postgraduate training programme and appropriate
vocational training sites for undergraduate training in Family Medicine /
Rural Health, CPD programs, Primary Health Care Nurse training
- Develop a support program for Community Service Medical Officers and Primary
Health Care nurses
- Develop and implement protocols of common conditions in primary care
- Support HIV/AIDS programmes in the District including the comprehensive care
plan for HIV / AIDS inclusive of ARV treatment programme
- Support the development of Quality Assurance / Improvement in the District
- Conduct research in Primary Care
