Masters Research Interns X3

CYFSD seeks to appoint three research interns on a 12-month contract to join the HSRC in February 2008. One intern will be assigned to each of our offices in Cape Town, Durban or Pretoria. Successful candidates will develop their research expertise by working with experts and project specialists.

The Child, Youth, Family and Social Development research programme employs a multi-disciplinary group of social scientists in Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria. The priority areas of research currently are: early child development youth development family studies social inclusion HIV/AIDS, and monitoring and evaluation. The programme uses a range of methodologies to describe, understand and monitor children, youth, families and other social institutions.

The internship experience is intensive and seeks mature individuals who are able to work independently as well as in a team.

REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must either be in possession of a Masters degree in the social sciences, or be close to the completion of their degree. An interest in one of the priority research areas of CYFSD (e.g. Early Childhood Development Youth Development Family studies HIV/AIDS Social Inclusion etc) will be an advantage. A sound grounding in research methods will be a strong recommendation.

The HSRC offers attractive, market-related packages, depending on qualifications, experience and recent performance.
