| Summary |
This report is a synthesis of insights from presentations, discussions and
workshops at the conference Implementing the Comprehensive Care and Treatment
Programme for HIV and AIDS patients in the Free State: Sharing experiences. Held at the
University of the Free State, South Africa, from 30 March 1 April 2005, the
conference provided an opportunity to share the early experiences of the Free
State Department of Health in expanding antiretroviral treatment (ART) in the
province. The conference provided the first public forum where parties from
a range of backgrounds were able to come together and openly discuss ART
initiatives within the context of the broader South African health system. |
